Penny Smyth Fedorchak’s passion has always been to be an artist. Her early interest in art found its path to pottery and stained glass; she followed her heart’s desire to paint in watercolor. Penny’s art education consists of art classes and workshops presented by many regional and world famous artists. Her studies continue with Robert Willis, Artist in Residence, Dorland Artists Colony in Temecula. She enjoys painting “en Plein Air” and is a member of the Monday Plein Air Painters in Fallbrook. Penny’s subjects include landscapes, flowers and still life. Her paintings have won numerous awards; most recently “Monumental” won First Place in Watercolor Landscape at the San Diego County Fair 2019.
“Art is a journey, one that gives me the opportunity to learn from each painting I create. Color excites me and I love the way paint does its own thing. My goal is to let the paint do the work creating its own path while I nudge it here and there”.
Penny’s happiest, most creative moments come as she splashes paint on paper. She hopes the viewer will enjoy her paintings as much as she enjoyed creating them. Her paintings are on display at Fallbrook Art Association’s "The Gallery" 127 North Main Street, Fallbrook, and at North Coast Art Gallery (formerly COAL Gallery), 300 Carlsbad Village Dr. St 101. Carlsbad, CA 92008.
